coaster less glass
An entirely new kind of glass: glass and coaster are united by magnets, so the coaster on the base absorbs condensation while you drink, and detaches easily for washing.
CLESS redefines the roles of glass and coaster — a new standard for glassware. Realizing the idea took about two years of trial and error from the first concept, overcoming one obstacle after another, to arrive at a coasterless glass that feels like it should have existed, but never did.
The glass is hand-blown by artisans of Edo glass, one of Japan's traditional crafts, and the coaster is made of certified domestic diatomaceous earth.
With safety in use in mind, the magnetic strength holding glass and coaster together was selected after long and careful testing.
In September 2021 the project was successfully funded on the crowdfunding platform Makuake, and further development toward general release is under way.
